Historic Hanna's Town Field Trip (May 18)

Fun Day 2023

Our Beaver Dam Science Project.

We first read a Scholastic News article about how beavers build dams and change the habitats of the rivers and streams where they live. The Second Grade Scientists then used the scientific method as a guide to help their teams engineer a working beaver dam that would successfully slow the flow of water in their team's "stream." We only used materials that a beaver would use: clay, sand, soil, river rocks, sticks, limbs and leaves.
